I've been looking at this train for far to long. I had driven by and seen it from the road for several years, but not up close. After a couple of years of saying to myself, " I should go take some pictures of that." I finally did. Let me know what you think in the comment section below. I'm sure to many of you, Silver Efex Pro is old news. I've know about the software for a while now, but had been content with using the tools built into Lightroom. I took the plunge recently and installed Silver Efex Pro to see what it could do for me, and what a world of difference. It's almost like being in the darkroom again. Being able to selectively work with parts of the images to control exposure and contrast is great.
The images below were processed with the new (to me) software; I believe they may be a bit over processed, but I don't really care. Experimenting is part of the process of learning the new tool. I'm sure over time I'll dial it back again.

Here it goes. My name is John, and this is my first post in my first ever blog. (does "blog" stand for anything?) I guess I could google it. Anyway, I've been a photographer for quite some time, but I haven't really made any new work recently. I'm starting this blog as an attempt to kinda kick start my addiction with photography again. My goal is to post a new photo each week. I'm going to start off with an older image, but it's my intention to add new/recent work each week.
I'm about to upload my first photo, and I've realized that I really don't have a clue about all of the different settings. This is going to be quite a learning experience for me.
I'm going to start this off with an image I took some time ago. I was living in Salt Lake City at the time (around 1996-1997 I believe) and decided to do a bit of exploring and found this old railroad car. To tell you the truth, I hardly remember much about it, but I like the image, and its an easy one to start off with.
For anyone interested, this image was shot with a Pentax 67, 45mm lens, T-Max 400 Film. Scanned to digital using an Epson V600 scanner.
